Year 6 | 16/17 | Open Gender | Open House | Open Face
This is a very open Want Ad for Callum's childhood best friend turned rival and 'enemy'. His app is here. I'll call the character 'Fee' for the rest of this ad. I'll also use male pronouns, but this character is not necessarily male.
Both being children of professional Quidditch Players, Callum and Fee grew up on the Pitch and Public Eye together. Callum was the more easygoing kid who was content to follow along with whatever shenanigans Fee wanted to get into. Fee on the other hand had the sharper mind and led their adventures, as well as a competitive nature. Fee has also had a streak of envy that came about when Callum's father won the League Cup when they were roughly seven years old and Callum got some favorable news coverage. Fee's dad was never part of a Quidditch Team that won the British and Irish Quidditch League, and it seemed as if Callum was 'The Golden Child' instead of his equal. From that point Fee has always felt competitive against Callum, but was always a step behind. When they started flying and their parents pitted them against each other, Callum always beat him out, seemingly without trying to win. That was always infuriating, and Fee practiced his ass off to try and get ahead, never to results.
They started at Hogwarts the same time and there the envy continued. Callum was more well-known from the get-go, even though Fee's dad was also a Quidditch Player. Callum eased into more friendships and was generally better liked. They both tried out for Quidditch the second year, but somehow Callum's accomplishment was more impressive. Then in their third year Callum somehow became the best underclassman chaser and became 'The Rocket', when his own hardwork never paid off? Fee began to resent Callum and broke off to find his own friends. Callum never understood what he did to upset Fee, as Fee has never told him, but it intensified into straight malice when Callum quit the sport. Fee cannot understand why Callum would quit the sport with his talent, but still offer training tips to other players. Fee took it as a shot at himself - that somehow Cal quitting was because he believed he could not become professional, meaning Cal believed Fee would not succeed either. He's been trying to get Callum to reconsider joining the team for over a year now.
Their friendship now is... tense. Fee still has a lot of resentment towards Callum, and Callum can feel it but has no idea what he did.
I can see this going in many possible directions including rekindling of friendship, complete breakdown of whatever friendship they have left, potentially some love-hate sexual tension, further animosity, some physical altercation, or even a good romance.
I can talk about this over discord (ccthefrog#2587) or pm. hit me up.
