CALLUM ECKHART
"THE ROCKET" | HUFFLEPUFF | 17 & SIXTH YEAR | HALFBLOOD | BISEXUAL | SINGLE | APPLICATION
Callum is the eldest child born to professional Quidditch players and to a seven-generation Quidditch Dynasty where there was speculation in the Quidditch community as to which position he would eventually play before he even started walking. He grew up with his time split between the public's eye and his family home on the outskirts of Blackpool. A love of Quidditch was instilled and he naturally took to the position of chaser, the same as his parents. There was no surprise that he made the Hufflepuff team during only his second year and became a key member to their success.
When he arrived home following his second year his newly retired mother placed him on a strict training regimen that slowly sucked away all love he had for playing the sport. When he turned to school for his third year he was the best chaser among the underclassmen, even earning himself the nickname 'The Rocket' for his seeker-like agility, but his heart wasn't in the sport anymore. He finally quit the team after his fourth year season, shocking both his peers and his family. He happily took on the position of Hufflepuff Prefect the following year.
Now that he's in his sixth year, Callum is still trying to have his family understand that he has no interest in returning to Quidditch in a competitive capacity while also and trying find something more meaningful to do with his life.
Friends: Callum is a social and extroverted guy who does not need time to unwind and does not like being alone for any period of time. He surrounds himself with at least one friend, preferably a few, for most activities. Cal is a person who likes being on positive terms with everyone he meets and has at least a few friends in most years in all houses, and especially Hufflepuff. His closer friends tend to be male as well as loquacious, friendly, and inclusive. He rarely eats dinner alone after classes and is always hanging out with a friend or two to study or play a game of Gobstones while eating his mother’s baking. His hobbies include casual Quidditch, other active sports, playing board games, muggle music and movies, maybe drinking a little and dancing, and spending time with his family.
I'd like for Callum to have a few best mates he can shoot the shit with, a few budding friendships as a result of being a prefect, a couple of study buddies who won't get upset at him for asking stupid questions. I'd really like Callum to have a best friend from a similar background of his own - the child of a Quidditch Player - and have them be best friends from early childhood.
Enemies: Callum really upset the Hufflepuff Quidditch team when he quit at the end of his fourth year and I can see some lingering resentment here, even if he does offer to help the team with practices and otherwise. Otherwise I don't see much potential for true enemies. Cal doesn't hold strong opinions enough to offend, and he loathes confrontation. One potential angle is that he does not like when anyone is upset with him and tends to lie or try to change the subject when asked a difficult question. Someone savvy to his inability to face conflict head-on would be an interesting angle. There will also be people who dislike him for being the son of famous parents, or for being a prefect, or for not standing up for himself or a friend when the situation calls for it.
Loves: While he has never had a serious relationship Cal is not entirely green when it comes to romance. Most of his romantic encounters have been with his fellow upperclassmen after a few firewhiskies. Callum is bisexual but has only ever participated in heterosexual relationships. I think for this category I'm looking for more casual encounters that become awkward when the blood alcohol drops, one or two-sided crushes, maybe a passion-filled rendezvous on the pitch. I am not looking for finals, but we can plot it out anyways.
Others: Teachers - he's surprised you because he is not a twat despite having famous parents. He's friendly and engaging in your class and is among your hardest working students. He tends to stay back after class to try and understand simple concepts, but he's respectful and eager to receive higher than mediocre grades. Maybe you think his goal of being a Healer is unattainable.
Other students - in his role as prefect he tends to take the role of supportive older brother. He takes that part of role model very seriously, and he makes it known to his fellow younger Puffs that he is available to talk, no matter how busy he looks. On the flip side no one takes his authority seriously as prefect and he's incapable of handing out punishment to rulebreakers.
Established Relationships: N/A. Sadface.
